OSHA investigating death at SD steel business
• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is looking into the death of a worker at a Rapid City steel business. • Twenty-six-year-old Adam Klynsma was killed at TrueNorth Steel on Friday. Pennington County Capt. Marty Graves tells the Rapid City Journal that a 12-foot steel beam weighing 1,600 pounds fell on Klynsma. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His funeral is Wednesday. • TrueNorth Steel Safety Director Rod Schober did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Rapid City Journal or The Associated Press. •
NJ man accused of bilking clients out of $300K
• NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities have arrested a New Jersey man for the third time in four weeks on charges of bilking investors of more than $300,000. • Jordan Zemlock also is accused of trying to bilk another client of $129,000. • Zemlock is an insurance salesman who owns Jay-Zee Financial Group. He's also licensed to conduct business in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota and South Dakota. • Prosecutors in New Jersey say the 50-year-old Marlboro resident mostly targeted senior citizens and used their money for personal needs. • Zemlock is held in the Middlesex County Jail on $500,000 bail, charged with theft by deception and other charges. It's not known whether he has a lawyer. •
Punter from Spearfish gets offer from Chargers
• SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) -- Former Spearfish High School and Rice University standout punter Kyle Martens has signed a free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers. • Martens holds the single-season and career punting records at Rice. He was a three-time candidate for the Ray Guy Award, given to the nation's top punter, but no NFL team drafted him. • Martens tells the Black Hills Pioneer that the Chargers offer was a surprise. He had worked out for several teams but San Diego had not been one of them. He reports to rookie camp May 11.
