two grants. One is the 3M Ingenuity grant for $7,176. The money from this grant will be used by both the math and science departments, they will be purchasing GPS locators and graphing calculators for students grades 6-9 to use to locate points, plot coordinates and to develop regression equations. The second grant was for the amount of $250 for the support of the MathCounts program. This money is used to help pay entry fees to the MathCounts contests. • High School Principal Joe Schawn also reported on some changes made by the high school activities association. There will no longer be a district tournament for class A boy's basketball, girl's basketball or volleyball. The official game ball for volleyball has also been changed to a colored panel ball. • The board confirmed the voting results from the school board election and declared the official results correct. Weber was authorized to report the results of the canvass to the counties. • A new fund was established as required by HB 1195. This fund is for the driver's education program, the money needs to now be established in an enterprise fund. This is a type of fund that has to be self supporting, similar to the current lunch program. • The resignation of Darcy Albrecht as the football and wrestling cheerleading advisor was approved. As was the hiring of Mike Nehls as a part-time head maintenance/custodian for the summer months of June through September. A re-assignment for Carla Kjelden was also approved. She will move from the kindergarten para-professional to elementary school librarian para-professional for the 2012-2013 school year. • Approval was given to accept the signed teaching contracts, negotiated agreements and signed administrative contracts for the 2012-2013 school year, with salaries t be published in July. • A first reading was given to several recommended policy changes and program reviews were given by the music department, Grades 3 and 4. • The meeting moved in executive session to discuss negotiations and staffing for 2012-2013.
